Emily has been drawing ever since she could hold a pencil.  From an early age she
took an interest in the arts and began painting seriously on her own in her early teens.
She's always had a particular interest in drawing and painting portraits because of the
unique challenges presented when trying to capture someone's likeness.  Eyes are
one of my favorite features because they have so much potential to portray character,
emotion and the essence of one's being.

In 2001 Emily decided to cultivate her artistic skills and enrolled in the Academy of
Art University Bachelor of Fine Arts Painting and Drawing program.  It was there that
she first learned how to oil paint and received formal academic training in drawing and
painting.  She also studied many printmaking, mixed media and book arts techniques.
In 2006 Emily graduated from the Academy and received the BFA Director's Choice
Award in the annual Spring Show. (picture shown)
After graduation Emily began teaching art to kids
in an after school program.  Teaching fills her with a
sense of joy.  She loves helping people break down
the barriers of what they think they can't do and
proving to them that they can accomplish great
things if they only put their minds to it.

One of her other passions in life is Yoga, and
she recently enrolled in a teacher training program
to become a Certified Yoga Instructor.  She hopes
to combine her passions together in a way that best
serves humankind and our global community.
